We had a busy 4th of July celebration on the 3rd. We started the morning bright and early with the Centerville 5K. Chris did awesome... I did ok - my goal was just to finish, and I actually surprised myself by finishing just under 30 minutes. I wasn't really expecting to be able to do that - but was happily surprised. The kids ran the 1/4 mile (although it ended up being more like the 200 meter free for all!) The video displays the utter chaos of that one! Abby got ninth place - not too bad :)They both got participating ribbons, and a free frosty coupon, and a toothbrush. (random) My mom made us a gourmet breakfast after the race, then we headed down to the West Bountiful Parade.
Eric being silly as usual.
Rich and Heather brought their kids from Arizona for a vacation - it was fun to have them there! Dave and Lori came into town with their kids, and Christa and Matt came to the parade with their kids - we had a ton of fun! It is such a relaxing, small town parade with plenty of candy and no fist fights for spots in the shade...
After the parade we took some of the kids over to Freedom Hills park to play on the Bradley's slip and slide. They were nice enough to let us come intrude for a while and let the kids play. They LOVED it.
My family kind of crashed in the shade...
The grand kids all loved being together - they had some fun times. We sent them out to eat outside, you have to love summer and being able to send the kids outside!
We went to fireworks at Davis High. Eric and Andrew fell asleep... but we woke Eric up when the firecrackers started. Andrew slept through most of it!
We had a super fantastic day - I love the 4th - Firecrackers, parades, warmth, family, good food, no presents to prepare... it's the perfect holiday!
