another funeral

Just a few days after my Aunt Kay's funeral, my mom got news that her oldest brother had passed away. My sister and I drove up with my parents to Mink Creek, Idaho for the funeral on January 7th. It wasn't an expected death, he was in his early 70's. He was a farmer and a good man. His wife died last year about this same time. He died of a heart attack.(something that runs in both my parents family)

You should have seen the beautiful church in Mink Creek. It's an old, pioneer church house. It was tiny inside - but the details were just magnificent. They had murals on the ceiling in the gym, and the chapel had so many ornate details. It was so beautiful!
The cemetery was just up the hill from the church house. I am sure it would be so beautiful in the summer time. I wouldn't mind being buried here. But it was SO COLD the day he was buried, that we didn't stay long here.
There were eight children in all. Merlin, Joy, Lila, Roselle, Norlis, Margie, Shirl, and one child that died as a baby. My mom's siblings that were at the funeral were Norlis, Joy, Shirl, Margie, and Roselle. It was good to see my aunts and uncles and some cousins too.
