visitors

My sister decided to join us this last weekend - she left her husband at home, and brought the kids - he was busy with Bishops duties...bummer...but we had a great time.

I love being with my sister- there aren't very many things better than family coming to visit!  We went on long, fast runs...she nearly left me in the dust!  And we talked non stop... thanks Chris for taking the kids on so many adventures so we could catch up!!

On Saturday, we tried to find an elusive abandoned gypsum mine...  we only succeeding in finding the currently operating gypsum mine...which we couldn't very well go out in! But we ended up finding our own adventure on the Arizona strip - wading in the river in the gorge.  The kids had a great time!

Saturday night all of the girls got to go to the Women's Conference... we had a great time - it was so fun to be able to take Abby with me. What a special spirit!  I absolutely loved the songs, and how they really geared it to the youth in places - very wonderful spirit!!

Sunday was spent going to church, and relaxing... well, the adults relaxed while the children filled Easter eggs... :)  Then Chris hid them around the yard for them to go find.  We had to keep them busy somehow!!

All day Sunday we researched where this gypsum mine could be.  Finally we stumbled upon some directions to a petroglyph site. http://lovetangerine.blogspot.com/2012/07/saint-georging.html   And from there - they gave directions to get to the gypsum!  YEAH!!  Sucess!!!

So, Monday morning, we decided to start the adventure again.  This time we did actually find the abandoned gypsum hole...  just a big pit in the ground.  It was covered in gypsum.  The kids were so excited - it looked like diamonds!  I admit - I loved it too!!!
They got out their hammers and chisels and went at it - even though there was plenty on the ground to pick up...
 Ethan thought it was awesome.

We had a wonderful time exploring together -and this will be on our places to visit often now!  We think it's pretty darn cool!  :)
