Family Photo Adventure!

Yesterday was quite the adventure - yes, I use the word adventure, even though Abby would just say it was a crisis (if she knew what that word meant :) Anyhow, my sister-in-law and I have been planning on taking each others family photo's for our Christmas cards. We waited until after Thanksgiving not just because we are totally insane and crazy...but we were hoping to find a most fantastic deal on Black Friday for an amazing camera (that didn't happen, so we had to take the pictures with our regular camera..) Anyhow - we got this amazing idea to go to the Farmington Pond to take the picture. Well - it wasn't supposed to snow until Saturday night- but you know how the weather people are ALWAYS just a little off...it started snowing right before we left to do pictures. There really wasn't all that much snow accumulated, and it seriously only took us no more than 20 minutes to take pictures in the snow.... but by the time we were done, our van and Lance's car could not get out of the Farmington Pond parking lot.
There still wasn't much snow - but the road was too slick, and the hill out of the parking lot was just too steep. Abby started BAWLING and saying "I'm never going to see my friends again." and "Are we going to die?" Yes, rather dramatic wouldn't you say? (every family needs at least one drama queen!) Thank goodness we had our cell phones, and Lance had a good friend that lived nearby with a big truck. But when the truck came to rescue us and he slid down the hill... we knew we just might still be in trouble. Sure enough, it took his 4 wheel drive and a little sliding of his own just to get back up the hill... so we skipped on the idea of him pulling us out of there and just walked up to the top of the hill. Abby thought we were leaving our car FOREVER, but Eric thought it was rather fun! At the top of the hill we got in the big truck and he took us to the Drollinger home where we waited for the snow to lift. After having lunch the snow slowed down a bit - so Chris and Lance went back to Farmington Pond with the nice guy with the big truck- and shoveled the hill and put ice melt on it. It worked! It cleared the road enough for them to get the cars out. I kept telling Abby it was fun, an adventure...she just glared at me and cried harder.... drama queen! I sure hope the picture turns out cute - because we aren't doing that again :) I'm sure Abby will make sure of that!

Oh yes, it was an adventure for sure. I am glad you finally were able to get the cars out. It was nice hanging out all day saturday too! That picture of Eric turned out adorable. You just might have to make room for that picture on your card!
