Memorial Day Weekend!

 We started our weekend off with a visit to the Kaysville Cemetery.  We went to visit the family graves there - both the Adams and the Laytons. 

 We decorated the graves with flowers, and a few in the family served in various wars, so we got to put some flags and crosses on those graves.  Eric enjoyed helping with that!

 Andrew thought it was great to just get to be out there chilling with his ancestors ;)

 We had a small family reunion, with my grandparents, Cousin, and my grandma's brother.  Not a huge gathering -but we were among friends.

 The kids with their Great Grandparents...  Priceless!  We were lucky to have gone on Friday afternoon.  Not only was the weather amazing - but we were also treated to the Thunderbirds practicing overhead.

 Saturday we woke up early and headed out to Hill Air Force Base.  Eric and Andrew were the most excited to see the airplanes, but we made Abby come along too.

 We got to tour a lot of planes, this one is GINORMOUS!

 We got to talk to pilots and ask questions.  It was a really fun time.

 The kids really seemed to enjoy seeing these beasts up close instead of just in the sky - it really makes you realize how big they are!

 The landing gear is especially huge!

 We waited in quite the line to get into this airplane - but it was well worth it. 

 It is a refueling aircraft - it was HUGE!

 And they let the kids go in the cockpit.  I couldn't believe the amount of buttons...seriously - so awesome.  How do you learn what each one does?  Wow - I'm super amazed!!!!

 The airshow was fantastic.  The morning show wasn't loud - we had a great time watching the little planes do all sorts of amazing tricks.  Then it rained on us - seriously rained on us.  We ended up going home sure that the show would be cancelled...but on the way home, we saw the facebook update that said they would be resuming in an hour.... so we went home, put on dry clothes, and headed back up.  It was well worth the drive!

 The second half of the show was pretty loud.  They had all the big jets showing off!  The Thunderbirds were absolutely AMAZING.  I still get shivers thinking about how amazing the show was.  Andrew loves airplanes - but he wasn't sure about how loud these ones were!  He kept covering his ears.  It was cute.  He did love the show - and keeps asking to look at the pictures. 

 Eric also loved the show!  He wanted to be a part of the whole thing - he kept putting on his "binocular" hands to make sure he got a good view :)  I love it.  If you want to see some AMAZING shots of the show go here:  (it's the standard examiner gallery)

 Here are my lousy try's of getting a good shot.  I didn't have my nice camera - I just didn't want to risk taking it... but I sure wish I had it at times!

 After the show - we came home and crashed.  Andrew found the sucker stash and was trying to eat four dum dum's at a time... 

 I think he succeeded!

 Monday we went on a Hike to Adam's Canyon.  We decided this would be a fitting thing to do on Memorial day because this Canyon is named after one of our ancestors - Elias Adams.  We have lots of family stories about the Adam's Family and the Canyon.  :)  (Yes, I'm part of the Adam's family..snap snap)  Don't get it?  Go here...you'll catch on quick....

 The hike was tough - it is a steep climb going up - but great coming down. It's a 3.5 mile hike round trip - but the 40 foot waterfall at the end of the trail is great. 

Do take extra shoes - or wear ones you don't mind hiking in wet - because you WILL get wet - that's the only way to see the falls!  :)  It's worth cooling your feet off for a minute though.

 It was such a fun hike - and the kids did great.  They were troopers.  What a fun Memorial Day weekend.  We had a great time!  I'm sure proud of my family heritage and the many people in my family that have served for me and my families freedom.  Thank you!
