This weekend we ventured up to the West Rim of Zion National Park and camped at the Lava Point campground. It is a beautiful drive up to the campground through Virgin.
We went exploring - at Ethan's pace.... nice and slow so we can throw rocks in ever puddle, pick up every stick and examine every silk worm nest!
Ethan loves to carry around a bucket to pick up rocks, dirt and other oddities.
My brothers kids caught some horny toads - Ethan and Katie were enthralled just watching them!
They even got to hold them... well, Katie was brave enough - Ethan didn't want to.
Abby and McKayla thought they were fascinating!
Logan and Andrew got some great buddy time in. These two crack me up. They are best buds!!! And they do LOVE their soda. :)
We had a great time hanging out by the fire, trying to keep Ethan away from the fire mostly... but it was still fun roasting marshmallows. Ethan is a pyro. We'll have to warn his scout leaders in about 7 years!
Eric also enjoyed the fire! He had a great time lighting sticks, chopping wood, playing with para cord, and just being a boy!
This is a pretty primitive area. There are toilets, but no running water. So we did have to bring all our own water. But it was a beautiful campsite.
Our cute little tent nestled in the forrest.
Logan and his marshmallow Kabob! YUMMMM!!
Ethan thought he could be just like Eric... he tried to play in the fire, he tried to chop wood, he followed Andrew and Logan everywhere trying to dig in the dirt and play games... he wants to be a big boy! He's ready to join in all the fun!!!(not to worry - no fingers were chopped on this outing)
Saturday morning we headed to Kolob Reservoir. We got muddy, the kids played in the water and we just enjoyed spending some time in the cool mountain air!!
